A glorious PVC display, thanks in part to carbonates, but mostly thanks to @mosaert’s creativity! Mosaert’s fashion & home partnership with @lebonmarcherivegauche touched home for us with this #hardhatrequired #pvc display, showcasing our mineral subtly in LBM’s famously chic windows. Thanks for making us look good! 🥂 #carbonateseverywhere #calciumcarbonate #whiteness #strength #glossy #smooth #windows #reflections #paris #art #lebonmarche #mosaertfabrique

We all love an excuse to raise a glass, so here’s a last toast to celebrate carbonates in Paris! Champagne products are some of the most famous in the world and are enjoyed frequently in Paris, but did you know that it’s all thanks to carbonates? The Champagne region sits right on top of an ancient carbonate limestone deposit, and millions of years of earthquakes have pushed those limestone deposits to the surface. This unique formation allows the soil to absorb sunlight and to effectively drain water, and that’s how they are able to extract the famous champagne quality from the grapes. Santé! #carbonateseverywhere #historyrocks #paris #champagne #limestone #toast #sante #champsdemars #eiffeltower #toureiffel #france #minerals #mineralmagic #didyouknow #bubbles #reflections

Refined taste.
Want another reason to order a glass of wine at your favorite café? Carbonates! The carbonates are used to change the acidity of soil, influencing the grapes and ultimately the flavor of your favorite French wine. One of the littlest-known but best spots in Paris to enjoy your carbonates influenced wine is at Place Saint-Georges. Built in 1824, this place was part of a plan designed by Louis XVIII. And it comes with a view too - sitting at the café, if you look in to the center of the square you will see a fountain designed by Denys Purch in 1911 that is the only monument in Paris to represent the old Carnival festivals. Pretty cool!

Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel
Costing over 1,400,000 francs to build, the Arc de Triomphe of the Carrousel de Louvre is one of the finest carbonate inclusive monuments in the French capital. Made with eight Languedoc red marble columns, each column holds a marble figure of a soldier from Napoleon's army. In addition, over each of the smaller archways is a marble bas-relief representing memorable events in Napoleon’s campaign of 1805. A triumphant display of carbonates!

Les Misérables’ carbonate connection
Marking the former location of the famous Bastille Prison that was stormed during the French Revolution, the Colonne de Juillet was inaugurated on the 28th of July, 1840 and soars over 154ft. What you might not know is that it rests on a massive round basin of white marble that was originally used for Napoleon’s Elephant monument which existed in the same place between 1813 and 1846! This Elephant structure was used as a shelter by Gavroche in Victor Hugo’s famous novel Les Misérables (1862) —————————————-

In Paris’ 6th arrondissement you’ll find St. Sulpice. On either side of the main entrance of this church lies two halves of an enormous seashell (made of calcium carbonates) given to King Francis I by the Venetian Republic. These holy water fonts rest on marble bases sculpted by the famous French sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. Behind the choir is the Lady Chapel - composed entirely of marble. Jean-Baptiste Pigalle also designed the large white marble statue of Mary in the chapel and the stucco decoration (more carbonates) surrounding it is by Pigelle's nephew, Louis-Philippe Mouchy. Fun fact: Pigalle's Mary replaced a solid-silver statue that vanished during the French Revolution. That statue was cast from silverware donated by parishioners and was known as “Our Lady of the Old Tableware.”

A short walk from Notre Dame there are some monumental carbonates waiting to grab your attention in the place Saint Michel. The Fontaine St. Michel, founded in 1860 during the reign of Napoleon II, is a massive monument that you can’t miss on your walk along the Seine. In the form of a Roman triumphal arch, it has attention grabbing red marble columns holding up the bronze figures of Truth, Wisdom, Power, and Justice.

How Rock N Roll! Begun in 1764 by Louis XV, the famous Greek temple style church of “La Madeleine” was the recent funeral host to another (walking) carbon based French monument, Johnny Hallyday. The marble walls and floor of this church form a single spacious hall that both wows and beautifully enhanced the acoustics of the music played by French Elvis’ friends during the ceremony. Rock on, Johnny. Rock on.

Stucco has played an important role in the stunning décor of many buildings in Paris, such the Grand Mosque that was built in 1926 as a token of gratitude to the Muslim tirailleurs of WWI. In WWII, the beautiful mosque even served as a secret refuge for Algerian and European Jews. The intricate stucco design of the mosque is made from hydrated lime and carbonates powder, and is durable enough to keep the exterior decor wowing generations to come.
